Meowdoku Level 1 Guide — User-Provided Fixture
Explore the user-provided 5×5 Meowdoku Level 1 fixture with original board diagrams, a checked answer and five reasoning steps. External source unverified.
Puzzle overview
This guide explains the five-by-five board supplied by a user for this website. The green region contains one cell, while the pink region follows the left edge and the lavender region follows the right edge. The numbered label comes from that submission; we have not independently matched it to a board in the Oakever app.
The board, answer and reasoning have been checked with our independent puzzle tools. The first two cats follow directly from single-candidate regions. The third step needs a short contradiction: trying R2C5 would empty the yellow region. The remaining placements then follow from single-candidate regions again.

The checked final answer
The cats occupy R1C2, R2C4, R3C1, R4C5, R5C3. Every row, column and region contains one cat, and no two cats touch.

5 reasoning steps, with the actual proof
Follow the placements in their derived order. Expand each proof to inspect the constraints and any tested assumptions. Temporary branch exclusions are kept separate from the real board.
Step 1 of 5 · Place a cat at R1C2
Step 1: Single candidate: Region "G"
Solid cats are already placed. The outlined ghost cat is this step’s recommendation. R1C1 is the top-left cell.
Region "G" has only R1C2 after the attached deductions. Place a cat at R1C2.
Strategy: Single candidate
Explain the proof for R1C2
Single candidate
Root eliminations hold without assumptions. Nested branches apply only under their labeled assumptions.
Final recommendation: R1C2 is the only candidate in its exact-one group.
Step 2: Single candidate: Region "B"
Solid cats are already placed. The outlined ghost cat is this step’s recommendation. R1C1 is the top-left cell.
Region "B" has only R5C3 after the attached deductions. Place a cat at R5C3.
Strategy: Single candidate
Explain the proof for R5C3
Single candidate
Root eliminations hold without assumptions. Nested branches apply only under their labeled assumptions.
Final recommendation: R5C3 is the only candidate in its exact-one group.
Step 3: Candidate forcing / contradiction chain: Row 2
Solid cats are already placed. The outlined ghost cat is this step’s recommendation. R1C1 is the top-left cell.
Row 2 has only R2C4 after the attached deductions. Place a cat at R2C4.
Strategy: Candidate forcing / contradiction chain
Explain the proof for R2C4
Candidate forcing / contradiction chain
Root eliminations hold without assumptions. Nested branches apply only under their labeled assumptions.
Assuming R2C5 leads to a fully verified contradiction in every necessary branch. Exclude R2C5.
Assumption and contradiction chain
Assume a cat at R2C5 for this branch only.
After placing R2C5, exclude R2C4, R3C4, R3C5, R4C5 by the existing row, column, region or eight-neighbor rules.
Rule checks for R2C4, R3C4, R3C5, R4C5
- R2C4
- Row 2 contains more than one cat.
- Cats at R2C5 and R2C4 touch.
- R3C4
- Cats at R2C5 and R3C4 touch.
- R3C5
- Column 5 contains more than one cat.
- Region L contains more than one cat.
- Cats at R2C5 and R3C5 touch.
- R4C5
- Column 5 contains more than one cat.
- Region L contains more than one cat.
- R2C4
Region "Y" still needs a cat but has no candidates. Contradiction.
Final recommendation: R2C4 is the only candidate in its exact-one group.
Step 4: Single candidate: Region "L"
Solid cats are already placed. The outlined ghost cat is this step’s recommendation. R1C1 is the top-left cell.
Region "L" has only R4C5 after the attached deductions. Place a cat at R4C5.
Strategy: Single candidate
Explain the proof for R4C5
Single candidate
Root eliminations hold without assumptions. Nested branches apply only under their labeled assumptions.
Final recommendation: R4C5 is the only candidate in its exact-one group.
Step 5: Single candidate: Region "P"
Solid cats are already placed. The outlined ghost cat is this step’s recommendation. R1C1 is the top-left cell.
Region "P" has only R3C1 after the attached deductions. Place a cat at R3C1.
Strategy: Single candidate
Explain the proof for R3C1
Single candidate
Root eliminations hold without assumptions. Nested branches apply only under their labeled assumptions.
Final recommendation: R3C1 is the only candidate in its exact-one group.
Common mistakes on this board
Treating R2C5 as a safe final choice
R2C5 is locally legal after R1C2 and R5C3, so a basic conflict check does not reject it immediately. Under that assumption, R2C4 shares its row and R3C4 touches it diagonally. Those are the only yellow candidates left, so yellow could not receive a cat. The contradiction is what rules out R2C5.
Removing the whole diagonal
Only immediate neighbors are forbidden. The final cats at R3C1 and R5C3 lie on a distant diagonal and are legal because they do not touch. Deleting an entire diagonal would incorrectly remove part of the valid answer.
Keeping exclusions from a rejected assumption
The temporary R2C5 branch rules out R2C4 inside that branch. When the assumption is rejected, that temporary exclusion is discarded: R2C4 becomes the forced cat. Only R2C5 is eliminated on the real board by the contradiction.
Questions about this fixture
What is the answer to this submitted Level 1 fixture?
The checked arrangement is R1C2, R2C4, R3C1, R4C5 and R5C3. It is the unique answer for the region map shown here. This mathematical result does not independently verify the official level number or external source.
Why must the first cat be at R1C2?
The green region consists only of R1C2. Every region needs one cat, and that square is initially legal, so there is no alternative green placement.
Why do basic hints stop after two cats?
After R1C2 and R5C3, each unsatisfied row, column and region still has at least two candidates. The advanced proof tests R2C5 and finds that yellow would have no candidates. That eliminates R2C5 and forces R2C4 without guessing.
Is this an independently sourced official app walkthrough?
No. It is a user-provided Level 1 fixture with verified mathematics. No official screenshot or external source has been independently checked. This page remains noindex and outside the sitemap until the provenance requirements are met.
